Clowne Enterprise is an enterprise agency based in Clowne, North Derbyshire.
Formed in 2006, it provides coaching and support for people wishing to start new businesses, and to existing small businesses looking to grow. This service was initially focused on Clowne itself, then Bolsover District, and now extends to cover Bassetlaw, Bolsover, Chesterfield, Derbyshire Dales and North East Derbyshire Districts.
Its building in Clowne contains 8 offices which are let to small growing businesses, usually the first office premises for people who were previously running their business from home.
It also runs a local network for small business owners.
Since it formed Clowne Enterprise has coached and supported over 800 individuals and businesses, and helped to create over 300 new businesses.
It has won numerous awards including an Enterprising Britain Award and the Derbyshire Times Community Business of the Year.
It is now delivering the Doing Good Business programme across North Derbyshire and North Nottinghamshire as part of the Building Better Opportunities project, funded by Big Lottery and the European Social Fund, helping people who are currently not working to return to work by running their own businesses.
